Specific learning intentions
Scientific investigation requires accurate experimenting, observing, recording and analysing. Solve a mystery by using scientific skills to interpret information.
Testing can be used to draw accurate scientific conclusions. Perform tests using kitchen chemicals to show if their hypothesis is correct.
In Science all ideas matter and scientists often work together to help each other. Collaborate to plan and carry out investigations. Respect others' ideas.
A chemical reaction occurs when at least two substances are mixed together to create something different. Predict, observe, describe and record changes that they see occurring in chemical reactions when using a number of different scientific tests.
Lab equipment and chemicals need to be handled correctly and safely. Use common science lab equipment and kitchen chemicals to carry out purposeful experimentation.
The ways that materials are used are
dependent on their properties.
Describe the uses of common
household powders by observing how they react with other substances.
